My mom raised me as a single mom during a time when it wasn't as common for people to be divorced. Every single day she offered me lessons of strength, resiliency, integrity, loyalty, humour, humility, service, compassion, and acceptance. She's my true North and the person who I share all the truest life moments with. You know the ones I mean. The moments that embarrass, inspire, devastate, empower, humble and ultimately define you as a person. She's been on a journey with colon cancer for 5 years and is near the end. It's been the greatest honour of my life to be her daughter and I am petrified that I will lose all sense of my identity when she's not alive to remind me. I am terrified to live with her.
