My great aunt died on Friday.

by Kate Fisher February 22, 2022

    loss family solidarity stories

My great aunt died on Friday. My family took her in to live with us 23 years ago, and she made the last 15 a living hell for us. No one outside ever understood how this little old lady could inflict so much emotional and spiritual abuse, but we let her stay because she had nowhere else to go. Now that she’s gone, I’m constantly on the verge of tears, but not for her. For us. For our lost years. I just hope my aging parents have enough time left to build the life they really want.
