When I was diagnosed, to be supportive most people I told said bipolar wasn't a big deal anymore. That there is medication, and that they knew I'd be able to manage well. The last year and a half have been the worst of my life.
It took a year for the meds to work. I developed a phobia and a processing disorder, spent all my money for treatment, called 2 ambulances, spent 3 months in bed, and missed out on so much.
At the start, if people had said, "I'm sorry, I know this will and has been hard," Maybe I would have told more people I wasn't ok.
